Mama Hutch'S Oatmeal Crisp Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. dark brown sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    2 well beaten eggs
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    3 c. oatmeal
    1/2 c. walnuts (optional)
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugars, add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add remaining ingredients.
    Make dough into rolls 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
    Wrap in foil or plastic.
    Chill thoroughly. Slice cookies about 1/4 inch thick.
    Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Makes 5 dozen.
