Cheddar Cheese Straws - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. butter (2 sticks)
8 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded (2 c.)
    1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne)
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
Cut in butter until mixture is coarse crumbs.
Stir in cheese and 1/2 cup ice water just until mixture forms a soft dough and leaves the side of the bowl.
On a lightly floured surface, pat the dough into a 6 x 6-inch square.
Wrap with plastic wrap and freeze for 30 minutes. On a slightly floured surface, roll chilled dough into an 18 x 8-inch rectangle.
Starting from the 8-inch side, fold 1/3 of dough over the middle third; fold opposite 1/3 over both and make a 6 x 8-inch rectangle.
Repeat rolling and folding as in the before step.
Wrap and freeze 30 minutes again.
