Easy Made Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers (5-inches or so in size)
    2 Tbsp. salt
    1 1/2 Tbsp. pickling spices
    1 rounded tsp. powdered alum
    2 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers and pack in a 1/2 gallon jar.
    Add the remaining ingredients.
    Finish filling jar with cold water and seal jar tight.
    Let stand 2 weeks.
    They can stand for a year. When ready to use, drain and wash cucumbers and slice or chunk. Cover with 3 or 4 cups sugar.
    Let stand until sugar makes a syrup.
    Put in jar and keep in icebox.
    Very good.
