Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers with skins
    1 qt. vinegar
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    4 large onions, sliced
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers and onions for 4 hours in salt and enough water to cover; drain.
    Add vinegar, sugar, mustard seed and turmeric. Simmer until cucumbers are a bright yellow.
    Seal in hot, sterilized jars.
    This recipe makes 5 pints.
