Plantation Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. granulated sugar
    2 1/2 c. pecan halves
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    In a large kettle, combine sugar, baking soda, buttermilk and salt.
    (If using candy thermometer, set in place).
    Cook over high heat for 5 minutes or 210\u00b0, being sure to stir frequently and to scrape bottoms and sides.
    Add butter and pecans.
