Braised Wild Duck - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 to 3 ducks, quartered
    1 large onion, halved
    2 small apples, quartered
    salt and pepper, coarsely ground
    butter
    1 c. dry red wine
    1 large can mushrooms (stems and pieces)
    2 c. grapes (canned seedless variety)
    small amount of cornstarch (for thickening)
Preparation
    Rub duck pieces well with salt and pepper, and brown well in the butter in a deep heavy pot on top of the stove.
    Reduce heat. Add pieces of apples and onion and the wine.
    Cover tightly and cook over very low heat until nearly tender (about one hour).
