Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1 c. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk.
Add vanilla.
Add boiling water last, beating as you pour it in.
Put in oven at once.
(This is a thin batter.)
Bake at 350\u00b0 until cake pulls from sides of pan. Makes 4 layers or a large sheet cake.
