Hoe Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. white cornmeal
    3/4 c. boiling water
    2 Tbsp. bacon fat, butter or oil
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Combine cornmeal and salt in a bowl.
    Pour in boiling water. Stir constantly. Beat until smooth.
    Drop spoonful of mixture into skillet of hot fat.
    Pat into flat circles.
    Brown on each side.
