Christmas Jewels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. granulated sugar
    2/3 c. white corn syrup
    1 c. water
    1/2 tsp. oil flavoring
    food coloring
Preparation
    Blend sugar, corn syrup and water in a large saucepan.
    Cook, without stirring, to 300\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat. After boiling has ceased, add flavoring and color.
    Spread thinly in a buttered pan or tray.
    Score in 1/2-inch strips or cut with scissors.
    Break into small pieces and roll in powdered sugar.
    The candy may be flavored as follows:
    green - wintergreen, blue - anise or spearmint, yellow - lemon, red - cinnamon, pink - clove, or white - peppermint.
