Fourteen Special Ingredients - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 pieces candied lotus root
    3 small pieces sweetened preserved stem ginger, finely chopped
    6 pieces candied water chestnuts
    6 canned loquats, drained
    12 segments canned mandarins, drained
    1/2 c. canned lychee juice
    1/2 c. canned mandarin juice
    1/4 tsp. fresh ginger, grated
    6 preserved pitted kumquats
    6 pieces winter melon
    6 canned lychees, drained
    1/2 c. canned loquat juice
    1/2 tsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. almond extract
Preparation
    Cut fruits into 1/4-inch cubes.
    Place remaining ingredients, except almond extract, in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
    Add the fruits and simmer 2 minutes.
    Stir in the almond flavoring.
    Pour into a bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours.
    This recipe can be doubled and unused portion stored in the refrigerator for several weeks to use as a garnish or side dish.
    Serve as a dessert or as a side dish with Far East cuisine.
    Serves 4.
