Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, drained after rinsing
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 c. onion
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, cooked and drained
    2 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    6 oz. Cheddar or Parmesan cheese, shredded
    8 strips fried bacon, crumbled
Preparation
    Fill a large Pyrex dish 1/2 full of shredded lettuce (slice like cabbage).
    Add in layers celery, green pepper and onion.
    Mix together peas and mayonnaise and spread.
    Sprinkle sugar over mayonnaise layer.
    Add cheese and top with crumbled bacon.
    Cover with plastic wrap.
    Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
    Do not toss or mix.
    Stays crisp for several days.
