Baptist Church Plum Jam - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    about 4 lb. plums (from trees in front of Barns Hall FBA)
    8 c. sugar
Preparation
    Add 1/2 cup water to plums and boil 10 minutes.
    Run mixture through sieve to remove seeds.
    Measure exactly 6 cups plums to 8 cups sugar.
    Bring to hard boil, one that can't be stirred down. Reduce heat.
    Cover.
    Simmer 5 minutes.
    Stir 1 box Sure-Jell. Bring back to full boil for 1 minute.
    Remove from heat; skim off foam.
    Fill jars.
    Makes approximately 10 cups.
