Almond Apple Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. firm apples
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    3/4 c. water
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    pastry for 9-inch pie
    1/4 c. blanched almonds
Preparation
    Peel and core apples; slice in 1/8-inch slices.
    Dissolve sugar and water over medium heat.
    Add apples, nutmeg and lemon rind. Cook slowly at 450\u00b0 for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
    Pour filling into crust.
