Lane Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter, softened
    2 c. sugar
    3 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
    2 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 c. milk
    8 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar together until very light.
    Sift flour and baking powder 3 times; add alternately with milk to creamed mixture.
    Fold in well beaten egg whites and vanilla.
    Bake in four 8-inch or three 9-inch pans sprayed with Pam and lined with waxed paper for 20 to 25 minutes at 350\u00b0.
