Maureen'S French Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    2 Tbsp. corn syrup
    2 tart apples, peeled and sliced
    handful raisins (optional)
    handful pecans or walnuts (optional)
    6 eggs
    dash of nutmeg
    dash of cinnamon
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 loaf French bread, cut 1 1/2 inches thick
Preparation
    Cook sugar, butter and syrup until syrupy.
    Pour into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
    Spread apple slices, raisins and nuts over this.
    Slice bread and place on top.
    Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over bread.
    Cover and refrigerate overnight.
