Grandma'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. cocoa
    2 tsp. soda
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    In large bowl, cream shortening, sugar, salt and vanilla.
    Add eggs and beat until light and creamy.
    Add flour and buttermilk. Beat 2 minutes more.
    In small bowl, mix cocoa, soda and hot water.
    Add to rest of batter.
    Put in 3 (8-inch) pans or 1 (9 x 13-inch) pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 40 minutes.
    Fill with Sour Cream Filling and frost with Glossy Chocolate Frosting.
