Tamale Beef Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. ground beef
    1 large green pepper (strips)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 or 2 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1/2 c. sliced ripe olives
    1 1/4 c. cornmeal
    2 Tbsp. flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. milk
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. oil
Preparation
    Brown beef, pepper and onion.
    Drain.
    Add tomatoes, sauce, chili powder, sugar, salt and garlic.
    Cook on low for 30 minutes, stir occasionally.
    Stir in cheese and olives and put in a round 2-1/2 quart casserole dish.
    Sift together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Add milk, egg and shortening.
    Pour over hot meat mixture.
    Bake in preheated oven 15 to 20 minutes until top is golden brown.
    Bake at 425 \u00b0. Serves 6.
