Apple Kuchen - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 2/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
tart apples
Preparation

Mix and sift dry ingredients.
Work in shortening; add egg and milk.
Pour into 8 x 8-inch greased pan.
Cover with layer of thinly sliced tart apples.
Sprinkle with brown sugar and broken walnut (or pecan) meats.
Beat 1 egg with 1/8 cup milk and pour over the top.
Bake at 375\u00b0 until done.
