Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    2 c. granulated sugar
    2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 c. butter
Preparation
    Mix first 4 ingredients together like pie dough.
    Divide into 8 parts.
    Pare, core and cut apples into quarters.
    Place apple pieces on individual rolled dough sections.
    Sprinkle apples with butter, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
    Fold dough upward around apples.
    Place in deep dish pan.
    Boil the remaining 6 ingredients in saucepan for 5 minutes.
    Pour over dumplings and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
