Candied Citrus Peel - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 to 8 c. citrus peel, cut in thin strips with no white membrane attached
    3 c. sugar, divided
    1/3 c. light corn syrup
Preparation
    Let peel stand overnight covered with water; drain.
    Bring six cups of water to boil.
    Add peel and cook, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
    Drain and repeat with another 6 cups of water.
    Drain.
