Tender Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

1 c. raisins
1 c. water
water
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Simmer 1 cup raisins and 1 cup water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump (20 to 30 minutes).
Drain raisin liquid into measuring cup.
Add enough water to make 1/2 cup.
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Stir in raisin liquid.
Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves.
Add oats, raisins and chopped nuts.
Drop rounded spoonfuls about 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
