Self-Frosting Date Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. dates
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. soda
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Mix dates, boiling water and baking soda.
Let cool.
Cream margarine, sugar and eggs; add to date mixture.
Sift flour, salt and soda; add to the mixture. Pour into 9 x 13-inch pan.
Spread chocolate chips, brown sugar and chopped nuts on top.
