Cherokee Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    3/4 c. chopped onion
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    1/8 tsp. oregano
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    2 c. tomatoes
    1 can mushroom soup
    1 c. Minute rice
    2 to 3 slices cheese, cut in strips
Preparation
    Brown the meat and onions.
    Cook over medium heat until the onion is tender.
    Stir in seasonings, tomatoes, soup and rice. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Spoon into a baking dish and top with cheese strips.
    Broil until the cheese is melted.
    Serves 4 to 6.
