1/2 c. lukewarm water
5 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter or other shortening
1 c. hot milk
1 c. hot mashed potatoes
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. salt
6 c. sifted flour
Preparation

Though pie fillings typically bake in an unbaked shell, it's best to partially bake the pastry before adding most milk-based custard fillings.
If these are poured in an unbaked crust, you may end up with soggy pastry.
