Ingredients

2 pkg. yeast
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. lard or 2 c. Crisco
5 eggs, beaten
1 qt. and 1 pt. warm water
Preparation

Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl.
Add sugar, salt, shortening and beaten eggs.
Use bread flour and add a little at a time, kneading well to make a soft, spongy dough.
Let rise 2 hours or until doubled.
Divide dough into 4 parts.
Roll out, one part at a time, to 3/4-inch thickness.
Cut with doughnut cutter and let stand 1 hour.
Drop into deep fat (375\u00b0) and fry until golden brown.
