Corn Meal Pasties - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 2/3 c. flour
1 c. lard or shortening
7 to 8 Tbsp. cold water
1/2 lb. lean round steak, cut in 1/4-inch cubes
1/2 c. diced rutabaga or turnip
1/2 c. diced onion
1/2 Tbsp. salt
1/2 Tbsp. pepper
Preparation

In bowl, mix pastry (flour, lard and water); refrigerate 1 hour.
Toss meat, rutabaga, onion, potatoes, salt and pepper. Divide dough in fourths; roll into 8-inch circles.
Spoon 1/2 cup filling on 1/2 of circle.
Fold over onto moistened edge, forming a half moon.
Crimp together; cut 3 small slits in top.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 55 minutes.
