French Onion Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 (3/4-inch) buttered slices French bread (set aside)
    2 large onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings
    2 Tbsp. butter
    6 oz. sliced Swiss cheese
    1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of chicken soup
    1 (5 oz.) can (2/3 c.) evaporated milk
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    In a large skillet, cook sliced onions in 2 tablespoons of butter for about 10 minutes or until onions are tender, stirring often.
    Transfer onions to a 12 x 7 x 2-inch baking dish.
    Layer Swiss cheese over onions.
