Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 bag Great Northern beans
    1/2 to 1 c. tomato juice
    2 cloves garlic, crushed and minced
    1 bay leaf
    2 c. small chopped ham
    onion to taste
Preparation
    Soak beans according to directions.
    Bring to a boil and add remaining ingredients.
    Simmer 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Add small amounts of water as needed to cook down to make a creamy soup.
