Mexican Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. self-rising meal
    1 c. sour cream
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/4 c. bacon bits
    4 hot peppers, seeded, chopped
    1 can whole kernel corn, drained
    1/4 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
Preparation
    Make a well in center of meal.
    Add beaten eggs, sour cream, shortening, then corn, mix well.
    Pour 1/2 of batter into greased skillet.
    Add grated cheese and peppers.
    Now cover with rest of batter.
    Sprinkle with bacon bits.
    Cook at 375 degrees 30 to 40 minutes until brown.
