Sauerkraut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening or butter
3 eggs
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. water or beer
2/3 c. sauerkraut, chopped, rinsed and drained
Preparation

Cream together sugar and shortening.
Add eggs, mix well and then add vanilla, salt and cocoa.
Sift together flour, baking soda and baking powder.
Alternating, add flour mixture and water. Fold in kraut by hand.
Bake in greased and floured pan for 35 to 45 minutes at 375\u00b0.
Use either one 9 x 11-inch pan or two regular round pans for a layer cake.
Frost with mocha, sour cream or cream cheese icing.
