1 c. margarine, softened
1 3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. pitted dates, chopped
1 Tbsp. grated orange rind
1 Tbsp. orange juice
1 1/2 tsp. grated orange rind
1/2 c. orange juice
1/2 c. sugar
Preparation

Beat butter in a large bowl at medium speed.
Gradually add 1 3/4 cups sugar, beating well.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
Combine flour, soda and salt.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning with flour.
Stir in pecans and next 3 ingredients.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 1 hour (do not remove cake from pan).
