Ingredients

4 c. sifted flour
4 Tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Wash apples, cover with cold water and let stand overnight. Cook until tender and dry in same water, being careful they don't stick.
Run through sieve; add sugar and spices.
Cool.
