Choco-Date Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. cake flour
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate pieces (1 c.)
1 c. chopped California walnuts
Preparation

Combine dates and boiling water; cool to room temperature. Stir shortening to soften; cream in sugar until fluffy.
Blend in vanilla.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Sift together cake flour, cocoa, soda and salt; add to creamed mix alternately with date mix, beating well after each addition.
