Rhubarb Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
    1 egg
    1 c. buttermilk or sour cream
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. diced rhubarb
    1/2 c. nuts
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Mix together 1 1/2 cups sugar, shortening and egg.
    Alternately add buttermilk and flour, soda and salt (sifted together).
    Blend in vanilla, rhubarb and nuts.
    Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan and sprinkle with 3 tablespoons sugar mixed with cinnamon.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 45 minutes.
    Very good for a brunch.
