Aunt Edna Wilson'S White Feather Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. cold water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/4 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    5 egg whites
Preparation
    Cream the shortening; add the sugar gradually.
    Mix and sift the dry ingredients.
    Add alternately with water.
    Lastly fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and flavoring.
    Bake in layers in moderate hot oven (375\u00b0) for 20 to 25 minutes.
