Quick Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices day old bread or older
    1 stick margarine
    1 1/2 c. sugar (less if filling is real sweet)
    2 Tbsp. flour (plain)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    pie filling (may use peach, cherry, strawberry, etc.)
Preparation
    Trim edges off bread and cut into 4 strips each.
    Melt the margarine. Add the sugar. Stir in the flour, vanilla and egg. Pour pie filling into square Pyrex dish.
    Place bread strips on top of this.
    Pour mixture on top and bake at 400\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or topping.
