Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 stick margarine
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
2 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. Angel Flake coconut
1 c. chopped black walnuts
5 egg whites, beaten
Preparation

Cream margarine and shortening; add sugar and beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and soda and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla. Add coconut and nuts. Fold in egg whites. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool and top with Cream Cheese Frosting.
