Date Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 pkg. dates
    1 tsp. butter
    1 c. nuts
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cook sugar and milk to soft ball stage.
    Put in dates and cook until dates are melted.
    Add nuts and cook for 1 or 2 minutes. Beat until creamy.
    Roll in greased paper.
    Wrap cold wet cloth around roll and let it cool and harden overnight.
    Slice when chilled.
