Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    4 c. raw peanuts
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. water
    3/4 c. light corn syrup
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    In heavy 3-quart saucepan, stir together the sugar, water and syrup.
    Over medium heat, stirring constantly, bring to a boil. Add peanuts gradually so mixture continues to boil.
    Continue to cook, stirring often, to 260\u00b0 on a candy thermometer or until a teaspoon of the mixture dropped into very cold water forms a ball that is elastic but hard enough to hold shape.
    Then add butter and cook until it spins hard and brittle thread.
    Remove from heat and quickly stir in soda.
    Pour on cookie sheets.
    Spread.
