Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. coconut
    1 c. chopped nuts
    5 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation
    Cream margarine and shortening; add sugar, beating until smooth. Add egg yolks; continue beating. Combine flour, salt and soda. Add alternately with buttermilk, then stir in vanilla. Add coconut and nuts. Fold in egg whites. Bake in 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
