Classic Buttermilk Fried Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 chickens (cut-up)
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    1 tsp. paprika
    3 c. Crisco Shortening
Preparation
    Combine buttermilk and chicken pieces in a large bowl, coating each piece. Stir together flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika on a piece of wax paper. Working with one piece of chicken at a time, lift out of buttermilk and let drain over bowl. Gently shake off excess buttermilk, roll chicken in flour mixture to coat evenly, and place on a clean piece of wax paper.
