Okra And Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. okra
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 medium green pepper
    2 Tbsp. Crisco shortening
Preparation
    Set out a large skillet, having a tight fitting cover.
    Wash, cut off stems, ends, slice and set aside.
    Chop okra and set aside.
    Chop onion and green pepper (about 1/2 cup).
    Add onions and green pepper; cook over medium heat until onions are transparent.
    Add sliced okra and 2 cups canned tomatoes, cut up in small pieces.
    Add salt and pepper to your taste.
    Simmer, covered, for 30 to 40 minutes or until okra is tender.
    Serves 8.
