Mashed Potato Cake Dated 1868 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 egg yolks
    1 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    pinch of ginger
    1/4 c. cocoa powder
    1 c. mashed potatoes
    1 c. nuts
    1 c. raisins
    4 beaten egg whites
Preparation
    Cream together egg yolks, butter and sugar.
    Add vanilla and buttermilk.
    Add flour, baking powder, salt, soda, cinnamon, ginger and cocoa powder.
    Add mashed potatoes, nuts and raisins. Fold in beaten egg whites last.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
