Pickled Onions And Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2-16 oz cans sliced beets (Drain and save liquid)
    2 medium onions, thinly sliced
    1 C. white vinegar
    1/2 C. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    3 whole cloves
    4 black peppercorns
    1 small bay leaf
Preparation
    Pack beets and onions in jars.
    Combine rest of ingredients with 1 1/2 c. beet liquid.
    Bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes. Pour over beets.
    Cool.
    Store in refrigerator.
