Pickle Peaches - cooking recipe

firm, cling seed peaches
7 lb. sugar
1 qt. cider vinegar
1/2 box whole cloves
Preparation

Peel a dishpan full of peaches in the evening.
Pour a mixture of sugar and cider vinegar over peaches.
Cover and let stand overnight.
Add 1/2 box whole cloves and cook until peaches pierce easily and have a clear look.
Put peaches, while very hot, into sterilized jars, adding 3 cloves per quart with juice.
Seal with hot lids.
