Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 c. pickles, sliced thin
    1 onion, sliced thin
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 c. vinegar
    1/4 tsp. alum
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Slice pickles and onion and set aside.
    Heat together remaining ingredients.
    Let cool.
    Pour over pickles and onion. Let stand in refrigerator overnight.
    Pack in small jars.
    Do not put too much juice in jars.
    Keep in refrigerator.
