Dream Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1 1/2 c. coconut
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar together.
    Add beaten egg yolks and vanilla.
    Beat until light and fluffy.
    Add flour, baking powder and salt.
    Mix well.
    Press into bottom of 11 x 7 x 1-inch baking pan.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Beat in brown sugar, nuts and coconut.
    Spread evenly on top of pressed dough.
    Bake at 350\u00b0. Remove while still a little soft to the touch, approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
    Cool and cut into squares.
    Makes 24 squares.
