Date Nut Roll - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. milk
2 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped pecans
1 Tbsp. margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Combine sugar and milk in saucepan.
Bring to a boil.
Cook without stirring, until it reaches soft ball stage or 238\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
Do not scrape sides on pan.
Add dates and nuts.
Cook until forms a firm ball in water or 250\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
Add butter and vanilla.
Remove from heat.
Let stand until lukewarm.
Beat as fudge.
When mixture begins to thicken, pour onto damp cloth and roll.
Let stand 24 hours before slicing.
Makes 2 rolls.
