Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, dry well
    2 c. celery, chopped
    2 c. carrots, shredded
    2 c. frozen peas, cooked and drained
    2 c. mayonnaise, thinned with 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 onion, chopped
    1 large green pepper, chopped
    8 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    crisp bacon, crumbled
Preparation
    Shred lettuce.
    Place in a large bowl.
    Layer onion, celery, green pepper, carrots and peas.
    Cover with cheese.
    Top with mayonnaise.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Keep refrigerated overnight. Sprinkle with bacon before serving.
