Fran Norton'S Fruitcake Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. pecans, chopped
    1 stick butter or margarine (at room temperature)
    1 1/3 c. light brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/2 lb. candied cherries, cut into small pieces
    1/2 lb. candied pineapple, cut into small pieces
Preparation
    Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan. Spread nuts in pan. In bowl, combine butter, sugar, eggs, flour and vanilla extract.
    Spoon over nuts. Sprinkle cherries and pineapple over batter. Bake at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool. Before completely cooled, cut into squares.
